Our client is a Middle Eastern family office looking to set up a platform to manage and develop approx $1 billion of own real estate assets.
This role will be responsible for establishing a separate business within the infrastructure of the family office. The individual will be responsible for identifying a suitable investment strategy, sourcing investments and structuring the portfolio as required. Alongside these responsibilities, this role will have prime responsibility for interfacing with debt providers and dealing with all aspects of financing, debt and deal-structuring.
The successful individual will have broad experience in real estate investment and will be involved in all aspects of managing a diverse portfolio of assets, spread across geography and sector. They will have an in-depth understanding of portfolio management, as well as a proven track record of large-scale investment decisions. Given the potential for development within the portfolio, experience of hands-on development would be key.
The company is still in very early stages and this role will be fundamental to building the company and team further. There is a definite requirement for all individuals to show entrepreneurial drive and be prepared to roll their sleeves up and get involved in all areas. Candidates will have expertise in project management and be able to take the lead in a variety of functions, including asset management, accounting and billing, investments, hiring, IT solutions.
In summary, successful candidates must possess the following attributes:
Extensive experience in real estate investing; Involvement in development; Developed knowledge of debt and structuring; Leadership and management skills with a background of decision-making; Flexible and adaptable, able to evolve in a multi-cultural setting.
In addition, the following skills/background would be desirable: Broad experience across geography and asset class; Understanding of portfolio management; A track record in project management; Experience within the Family Office/Ultra High Net Worth space; Previous experience in the region is not required, but an understanding of local culture would be extremely advantageous; Knowledge of Sharia compliant banking would be advantageous, but is not essential; Entrepreneurial demeanour
