Private Equity & Real Estate Services which provides a full suite of real estate and administration services was launched in November of 2005 through the commercialization of the finance and technology team supporting J. P. Morgan's various private equity and real estate entities. The line of business has over 200+ dedicated finance and technology professionals with offices in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Sydney, London and Jersey (CI). The team provides administration services to more than 100 clients with $200 BN exposure to alternative assets.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will build and lead a team whose primary focus will be to support Open Ended Real Estate Funds. This is a new and exciting opportunity to support J.P.Morgan's continued investment into real estate investment administration and accounting services. The main responsibilities of this hands-on role include:
• Define a set of real estate open ended fund services for real estate investment clients
• Build, lead and motivate a team to service client's real estate open ended fund investment requirements
• Liaison with clients and client advisers including CFOs, controllers, property managers, asset managers, valuers and legal council
• Manage client deliverables and SLA's
• Work closely with Sungard to develop an automated solution for the servicing of open ended fund structures
• Produce and maintain a procedures manual for the servicing of real estate open ended funds
• Maintain clear communication with the real estate closed ended and portfolio administration accountants
• Act as overseer of the service delivery model for real estate open ended funds
• Support the on-boarding team and ensure a smooth transition of real estate open ended funds to the business as usual teams
• Manage client service and operational risks
• Work closely with PEFS other shared function groups including IT, sales, on-boarding, product, fund accounting, portfolio administration and tax
• Continually update knowledge of industry standards and developments to communicate to clients
• Manage multiple client relationships, addressing client inquiries, providing business advice and coordinating timing of client deliverables
• Manage the operations and reporting in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS, whichever is applicable
Qualifications:
• Hold CPA qualification or equivalent, with post qualification experience
• The candidate will have extensive knowledge of managing Open Ended Real Estate investment vehicles
• 8-10 years of related experience
• A working knowledge of MRI and Investran, PEFS real estate and fund administration platforms would be beneficial
• Broad real estate investment, asset management, portfolio management and accounting expertise (direct, JVs, private funds) required
• Organized and detailed orientated with a client focus
• Experience of US GAAP and IFRS preferred
• Although the candidate's primary role will be to lead a team in the administration of real estate open ended vehicles they will need to demonstrate additional skills. The candidate should be expected to communicate regularly with clients and third party advisers including property & asset managers, demonstrate an entrepreneurial work ethic and work closely with the other shared function groups within the business
